Adetola Henry Adewole

Postdoctoral Fellow,

School of Biological Sciences,

Georgia Institute of Technology Email: ahadewole@gatech.edu

PhD (Chemistry); University of Pretoria, Hatfield, South Africa

BS, MS (Chemistry); Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria

Adetola got his BS and MS (Chemistry) degrees from the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He got his PhD (Chemistry) degree from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 2023 where his research focused on the bioprospecting of South African medicinal plants. He did this via chemical profiling, identification, isolation, and biological screening of bioactive secondary metabolites from these plants. He worked as a Chemical Scientist at a South African company where he was tasked with the design of synthetic routes and the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Adetola joined the Kubanek Lab in July 2023 where he is exploring rare marine organisms for novel compounds that can serve as leads in drug discovery. Outside the lab, he enjoys watching movies and football (what Americans call soccer).
