An aquatic microbiologist at heart, Maggie Straight explores the chemically-mediated interactions of marine microbes. Currently, Straight is examining how bacterial metabolites affect algal metabolism. Growing up 250 miles from the Ocean, Straight found her start staring at freshwater diatoms and researching antibiotic production at the University of Rochester.
